I’m not religous, my folks just liked Robert Redford.

My first name is Jeremiah. Upon meeting perhaps every person I’ve ever told that to, I’ve been greeted with the first couple lines of “Joy to the World” by Three Dog Night, and of course, everyone thinks that they are making just as much of an obscure, clever reference as the last.

But no, that’s not what I was named after. The next guess is that the rentsĀ  were good Christian folk and that they took it out of the bible. Afraid this is wrong too. Truth is, my folks dug the 1972 Robert Redford flick called Jeremiah Johnson. Now my father’s name was John, but they didn’t just want me to be a junior. So, they put their heads together and on 3 - 8 - 88 they decided that it would be clever as sin if they could say to people that “Jeremiah’s-John’s-son”

Guess it ain’t a bad start.

I’m using this page as a process folder to keep track of things that I’m working on in the process of a project I’m planning on calling, Plays with Characters for three reasons;

Firstly, “Characters.” is the rock & roll group I’ve been playing with for about three years

Secondly, I’m studying design and typography as MassArt in Boston, and up on the 9th floor of the Tower building, (studio #2) you may find me playing, cutting, or trying to make letterforms, glyphs, or characters out of things,

Thirdly, It’s a fun play on words for me, I’m a half-pale American Indian who was raised in the city, but had I had any Indian name, such as Dances with Wolves or Runs with Horses, it’d be Plays with Characters.
